Emotional branding specialist Brandhouse has won a silver award at the Design Effectiveness Awards, for their work with No.3 London Dry Gin.

Brandhouse created the complete branding identity for the luxury gin brand from Berry Bros. and Rudd - Britain’s oldest wine and spirit merchant and supplier to the Queen. This included brand story and positioning, the product name, bottle design and secondary packaging.

The bottle structure itself is based on original gin bottles shipped from Holland, with a tipped-in aged-metal key, wrapped in an original 17th century map of the location, and housed in a luxurious die-cut & embossed elegant gift box. Every element of the identity is based on threes, from the trefoil in the top of the key, to the key itself, the repeat of the logo round the foiling and the branded copy.

In the first 12 months, sales outstripped the budget of 6,700 cases by 62% achieving a total of 10,800 cases.

Offered for sale originally in three countries, the brand has been sold in 10 further territories. No.3 has gained nationwide distribution at one of the UK’s leading premium hotel chain, and the brand is gathering international acclaim in the luxury sector.

The Design Business Association (DBA), founded in 1986, works to promote the central role that design has in achieving commercial growth and success. The annual DBA Design Effectiveness Awards is the only award scheme that uses commercial data as a key judging criteria.
